For generations, Indigenous economies have thrived, rooted in trade networks, innovation, and sustainability. Today, Indigenous businesses are among the fastest growing in Canada, leading in industries from energy to finance, technology to agriculture. The word "Ahkameyimok" is a Cree word that means to persevere, to not give up, to keep going. We believe it’s a powerful word that conveys the resilience and determination of the Indigenous business community in Canada.
Ahkameyimok is published by Welch Capital Partners and aims to be a source for insights into Indigenous business transactions across Canada.

June was Indigenous History Month
June marked National Indigenous History Month—a time to honour the rich cultures, enduring strength, and invaluable contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples across Turtle Island.
It was an opportunity to reflect on the resilience and achievements of Indigenous Peoples in shaping Canada’s economic, cultural, and social fabric. While the path toward reconciliation continues, we celebrate the innovation, leadership, and progress being driven by Indigenous communities, businesses, and entrepreneurs across the country.
This month also reaffirmed the importance of economic reconciliation. At the heart of our work is the belief that Indigenous leadership in business, ownership, and investment is essential to building self-determined and prosperous communities.
Below are a selection of stories and initiatives from across Canada highlighting the impact and priorities of Indigenous Economic Development Corporations.
